“We came to spend our holiday in the north for the first time. The cabin was absolutely top-notch. Our 2-year-old Finnish Spitz thought the yard’s fencing was great.” – 8/2016 H, M & dog

Well-equipped Wilderness Cabin in Lapland, near Saariselkä

This well-equipped two-story rental cabin is located in Lapland, in the village of Kuttura. The wilderness cabin is suitable for those seeking peace, guests who enjoy Lapland’s nature, families holidaying with children, and travelers with dogs. Nearby flows the Ivalojoki River, also known as the “Gold River.” From the cabin, it is 48 km to Saariselkä, 74 km to Ivalo Airport, and 287 km to Rovaniemi.

In addition to a wilderness getaway, the Kuttura rental cabin is also suitable for remote work thanks to its WiFi connection. The cabin’s facilities include excellent cooking possibilities (featuring a modern, safe gas stove) and meet the expectations of modern travelers, combining them in a unique way with the atmosphere of a wilderness cabin.

The cabin also has a smart TV and a DVD player, but since it is located in the wilderness, TV channels are not available. Therefore, bring your own DVD movies or log in to your own streaming accounts via the smart TV’s apps.

Charging an electric car is possible at Kiilopää, as well as at several locations in Saariselkä and Ivalo. You can check the charging points here.

DOWNSTAIRS OF THE CABIN

The downstairs of the cabin features a fully equipped combined kitchen and living room. The kitchen includes a gas stove with an electric oven, coffee maker, toaster, and good basic kitchen utensils.

The living area has a stone fireplace, a dining set, and comfortable sofas. Downstairs, there is also a toilet and a separate bedroom with two beds.

UPSTAIRS OF THE CABIN

Upstairs there is a bedroom with two beds and a sofa bed. In addition, upstairs there is a lounge area with two sofa beds.

SAUNA & UTILITY ROOM

In addition to the cabin, there is a garage building on the property with a wood-heated sauna, a large washroom, and a utility room. This building also contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, and toilet. The garage itself is not available for use.

On the north side of the cabin flows a stream, and along it there is a dammed pond where you can take a dip during a sauna session. However, beware of sharp rocks on the bottom; this pond is not suitable as a swimming place for small children. The distance from the sauna to the stream is about 80 meters.

Fenced Yard – Suitable for Holidays with Dogs

The one-hectare property is fenced with a game fence. Dogs can be off-leash in the yard as long as they do not run away. A dog may be able to climb over or dig under the fence. If there is uncertainty about leaving the dog loose, it is best to keep it on one of the two tie-out cables provided on the property. Dogs can also swim in the pond.

IMPORTANT: In the reindeer herding area, visitors holidaying with dogs are subject to the same rules and responsibilities as permanent residents who own dogs. Dogs must not disturb the village’s reindeer! Reindeer are always someone’s property, and their welfare is important to the whole village – including our guests.

OUR OWN ACTIVITIES

Near our café, Kafea Gufihtar, we offer memorable activities in the authentic spirit of Lapland. At our gold claims, you can try your hand at gold panning. The river also provides great conditions for a relaxing rafting trip in a rubber dinghy.

Your “own” gold claim near Saariselkä for a day, a week, or even the whole summer!

You can camp at the claims with your own tent, caravan, or motorhome. At Black Betty claim, there is a large tent with a wood stove; this is intended as a shared break area, not for accommodation.

At Black Betty there is also some firewood available, but nothing may be taken from the surrounding nature. Our café sells 60 L sacks of firewood. Current wildfire warnings must be followed.

Everyone must take their own rubbish away when leaving; waste containers (Moloks) are located along Kutturantie road. Both claims have functional outhouses – bring your own toilet paper.

Campsites and digging areas must be kept tidy!
